Paul Mullin scores worldie for Wrexham but fans make the same joke
Paul Mullin delivered a Christmas cracker of a goal, but barely anyone in attendance could see it happen. Mullin started up top for Wrexham as they recorded a crucial 2-1 win over Steve Bruce’s Blackpool in their League One Boxing Day clash. Sky SportsMullin’s goal was as good as they come, scoring a thumping volley[/caption] The Welsh side went into the contest unbeaten in their last seven matches across all competitions as they look to secure a staggering third-straight promotion. However, the undefeated streak looked in danger of being ended inside just three minutes as Tangerines forward Ashley Fletcher found the back of the net. Fletcher rose highest to nod home James Husband’s cross as the visitors enjoyed a dream start in north Wales. But Wrexham soon hit back in spectacular fashion with a goal worthy of the club’s Hollywood ownership. Wrexham striker Ollie Palmer flicked a header off of a throw-in on the right flank in Blackpool’s half into the direction of Mullin, who initially had his back to goal. Mullin cushioned the ball on his right quad before he waited for it to drop to the perfect height. He then unleashed a stunning first-time volley just inside the 18-yard box that flew past Blackpool goalkeeper Harry Tyrer and into the back of the net. It was as sweet a strike as Mullin could’ve asked for and brought Wrexham level. The sensational volley was also Mullin’s first League One goal since he scored on October 19 away to Rotherham United and his second of the season. Unfortunately for viewers and potentially some fans at The Racecourse, they may have missed out on Mullin’s goal entirely.
