Fiorentina manager Raffaele Palladino addressed the media in a press conference ahead of the highly anticipated match against Inter Milan. The fixture, originally suspended in December due to a medical emergency involving Edoardo Bove, is set to resume with both teams eager to secure crucial points in their Serie A campaigns.
Transfer Window Success
Palladino expressed satisfaction with the club’s transfer activities, highlighting the arrival of five new players and the departure of eight. “There has always been harmony with the club. Everything has been done to create an increasingly strong Fiorentina. The work has been tremendous. The directors have worked 24 hours a day for the good of the club. I am very satisfied. Important players have arrived who will add value to the squad that was already up to par,” he stated.
New Signings and Integration
The manager emphasized the importance of quickly integrating new players into the team’s compact group. “Many of them already know each other. This will happen naturally. The technical integration, however, is my job. We have acquired very good players who will give us a great hand. We will need to be chameleon-like,” Palladino explained.
Key Players and Injury Concerns
Palladino addressed the status of several players, including Comuzzo, whom he described as “our great acquisition.” He also mentioned minor injury concerns, with Adli nursing an ankle knock. “The new signings will be absent, and we will be few: 14, with two players we want to recover. But we will play a great game, we will have to be even more of a team,” he added.
Tactical Flexibility
Discussing potential formations, Palladino emphasized versatility, noting that recent transfers were made with tactical flexibility in mind. “We can use our wingers as midfielders. The important thing is not to focus on a single system,” he stated.
Notable Acquisitions
Palladino spoke enthusiastically about new arrivals, including Zaniolo and Fagioli. On Zaniolo, he said, “I didn’t have to convince him, he was already convinced. I heard a mature boy eager to come to us with great ambition. Physically he is fine. I had a pleasant feeling. His is a beautiful story, he returns to where he started and his dream has come true. He is a trequartista, but he can play different roles.”
Regarding Fagioli, Palladino commented, “He is a strong player, I have always liked him. He has great versatility and dynamism. He can play in any way and anywhere in midfield. Fiorentina has made a great acquisition. In recent months we have had some shortcomings in that role, and he will give us a big hand. He strongly wanted to come to Florence.”
Looking Ahead
As Fiorentina prepares for two challenging matches against Inter Milan in quick succession, Palladino acknowledged the need for different tactical approaches. “We have to prepare two completely different games, even if the opponent will be the same. On Monday I will have the new signings available, so we will set up the game differently,” he explained.
