Pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo revealed a surprising run-in with law enforcement during her GUTS World Tour, stemming from an unexpected case of mistaken identity.

The 21-year-old singer-songwriter, who has captivated audiences across the globe with her deeply personal lyrics and raw energy, found herself facing an unusual incident upon returning to the United States.

In a recent appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" to promote the Netflix concert film chronicling her tour, Olivia Rodrigo shared details about the incident that left her momentarily concerned.

Rodrigo has spent much of the year on the road, performing in over 90 shows since February in support of her latest album, "GUTS." The whirlwind tour, which concluded in October, solidified her status as one of pop music’s most electrifying new talents, but not without its share of surprises.

"I got in trouble with the law for the first time in my life," she told Jimmy Fallon.

The "Vampire" singer explained that they were en route from Canada to the U.S., "like Portland or something," and as they approached border control, Olivia handed the police her passport to go through customs, but things took a turn when she was asked to come with the officers.

Initially, Olivia thought maybe one of the officer's daughters was a huge fan, and they were going to ask for an autograph or a photo. "I'm like, 'I just played a few shows; maybe, like, their daughter wants an autograph.' And I come out [at] 3 a.m. I'm delirious, and they take me to a room—and it's an interrogation room, and there's like, a big cop [with] a gun," she told Fallon.

"He's like, 'Have you ever been arrested?' I'm, like, 'No, I haven't been arrested,'" the star said of their conversation. "He's like, 'Are you sure?' I'm like gaslighting [myself]. I'm, like, Oh, my God, maybe I was, like, arrested and I didn't know it," she continued. "He said, 'You know, you could go to jail for lying to a federal officer like this. Like, this is really bad.'"

The 'Vampire' Singer Said She Was Having 'A Panic Attack'

The former Disney Channel star recalled being freaked out as she told Fallon about the incident. "I'm like, 'I'm not gonna be let into America.' Like, I'm so scared. I'm, like, having a panic attack."

"After 30 minutes' interrogation, [the officer] looks at me and he goes, 'What's your name?' [I said] 'Olivia Rodrigo, like, R, O, D, R, I, G, O,' And he's, like, 'Oh, there's a girl who looks just like you, that's your same age, that's been arrested multiple times, and her name's Olivia Rodriguez,'" she said, prompting laughter from both Fallon and the audience.

"Jimmy, I was pissed," the singer said. "I'm like, 'You didn't look at the name on the thing?'"

While Rodrigo expressed relief, calling it a “crisis averted,” Fallon responded with a playful, tongue-in-cheek warning directed at the other Olivia the officers were looking to question.

"Olivia Rodriguez, if you're watching, be careful. That's the moral of the story—be careful," Fallon said. "Stay away from Canada."

During her whirlwind GUTS World Tour, Olivia Rodrigo has not only captivated audiences with her music but also stirred conversation with her advocacy and unexpected on-stage mishaps.

Earlier this year, she made headlines at a St. Louis concert by offering fans an unconventional parting gift: condoms and Plan B, distributed in partnership with the Missouri Abortion Fund. The initiative aimed to promote reproductive health, with the former Disney Channel actress using her platform to spotlight access to contraception and support for reproductive rights.

Rodrigo’s tour also took a literal plunge when she suffered a surprising mishap on stage in Melbourne, Australia. Mid-performance and mid-sprint, Rodrigo unexpectedly fell through a trap door, typically used for special effects, while engaging with fans across the packed arena.

Rodrigo quickly recovered and finished the performance, though she went to the hospital after the show as a precaution.
