Napoli have officially announced the acquisition of Danish midfielder Philip Anyanwu Billing from Bournemouth on a loan deal that includes an option to buy. This transfer comes after Napoli’s recent decision to loan out Folorunsho to Fiorentina under a similar arrangement.

Billing, who has Nigerian roots, began his football journey at Esbjerg before making his way to England. Over the past 11 years, he has played for only two clubs: Huddersfield Town and Bournemouth, where he has been since 2019. This season, he has made a total of 10 appearances for Bournemouth, contributing as a substitute in several matches. His move to Napoli marks a significant change as the club aims to strengthen its squad.

At 1.93 meters tall, Billing is known for his physical presence on the field and versatility as a midfielder. He has previously played both as a central midfielder and an attacking midfielder, showcasing his ability to score goals. In the 2022-23 Premier League season, he netted seven goals, playing a crucial role in Bournemouth’s survival in the top tier. His impressive performance in the Championship during the 2021-22 season, where he scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists, was pivotal in helping Bournemouth secure promotion.

Now joining Napoli, Billing will be part of a team that is currently competing for the Serie A title under the management of Antonio Conte. The club is engaged in a tight race with Inter Milan and Atalanta for the championship.
