Jane Fonda has one staple in her nighttime wardrobe.
“A flannel nightgown — because I’m single,” Fonda, 87, quipped to The Times on Saturday, July 19. “I never wore them when I was with a man.”
While a flannel nightgown is an essential, Fonda — who was most recently linked to record producer Richard Perry from 2009 to 2017 — noted that a different item of clothing is her most “treasured.”
“Yoga pants, because they are easy to put on and take off and they’re comfortable,” she told the outlet.
Jane Fonda Turns 75, Credits Youthful Looks to "Good Genes" and "Money"
Fonda noted that she’s the “opposite of a hoarder,” identifying as a “sort of minimalist” who sold “half” of her clothes last year. She noted, “But I’m the same size as I used to be, so I can still wear my old clothes.”
While reflecting on her looks, Fonda shared that one word to sum up her style is “simple.” She added, “Since my hair has gone grey, I wear more color, including yellow and green. Even I can look good in those colours, and not a lot of people can say that.”
Fonda opened up about her hair color during a 2021 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, noting that she’s “so happy” she let her locks “go gray.”
“Enough already with so much time wasted, so much money spent, so many chemicals. I’m through with that,” she said, adding that she doesn’t have plans of returning to blonde.

The Grace and Frankie star also noted that she’s maintaining a low-key approach when it comes to her style.
“I vowed a couple of years ago to never buy new clothes again. You know, we spend too much money, we buy too many things and then get rid of them,” she shared at the time. “We try to develop our identity by shopping, we’ve got to stop that, stop all this consumerism.”
Outside of her style, Fonda has been candid about aging — and her decision to have plastic surgery. While talking to Vogue in 2022, Fonda noted that she wants “young people to stop being afraid about getting older.”
“I think that Grace and Frankie gives people, especially women, a lot of hope. That’s why I always tell people what my age is because I want them to realize it,” she said. “Now as those words are coming out of my mouth, what I’m thinking with the second part of my brain is, Yeah, Fonda. You have money. You can afford a trainer. You can afford plastic surgery. You can afford facials. You can afford the things that help make you continue to look young. That is true. Money does help. ‘Good genes and a lot of money,’ as somebody once said.”
Fonda revealed to the outlet that she had regrets about her own procedure.
“I had a facelift and I stopped because I don’t want to look distorted. I’m not proud of the fact that I had [one],” she admitted. “I don’t know if I had to do it over if I would do it. But I did it. I admit it, and then I just say, OK, you can get addicted. Don’t keep doing it.”
