Veteran NBA broadcaster Kevin Harlan has signed a three-year contract with Amazon Prime Video to call games beginning this fall, sources told The Athletic. The deal was finalized in May as Amazon prepares for its new NBA broadcasting package.
Harlan joins Amazon after nearly three decades with Turner Sports, where he called NBA games from 1996 to 2025. His final Turner broadcast came on May 31 during the Pacers-Knicks playoff series as the network concluded its NBA coverage.
Amazon has also added former Brent Barry as a game analyst. Barry brings experience as a 14-year NBA veteran, broadcaster, front office executive, and most recently as an assistant coach with the Phoenix Suns.
The streaming service has assembled an impressive broadcasting team for its NBA debut. Play-by-play announcers include Ian Eagle and Michael Grady, while analysts feature Blake Griffin, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki, Candace Parker, Stan Van Gundy, and Dwyane Wade.
Amazon plans to mix and match analysts between two- and three-person broadcast booths throughout the season. This flexible approach allows the network to utilize its deep talent pool across extensive game inventory without fixed crew assignments.
Ian Eagle is expected to handle play-by-play duties for Amazon's 2027 NBA Conference Finals coverage. The network does not distinguish between lead announcers for regular season games given the quality of both Eagle and Harlan.
"With TNT losing the rights, and it's very sad there, it clearly has made a sea change for most of us and navigating that is always a challenge," Harlan told The Sports Media Podcast in February. "I am in my 60s and to have someone with a bright new shiny opportunity for someone at my stage of this career, which is dominated by younger broadcasters and incredibly talented people, to have them want me to join their roster is humbling and incredibly gratifying."
