Wednesday horse racing tips

KEMPTON

  • 7.07: Al Joory (1pt), 7.37: Advancing (1pt)

HEXHAM

  • 5.15: Mohawk Chief (1pt)

Al Joory 7/1 each-way

Solid each-way chance after winning here ahead of Sea Poetry back in May.

Disappointed at Doncaster next and was a respectable sixth of 12 at Lingfield last time out, showing she does go well on the artificial surfaces better so far early on in her career.

Roger Varian’s horses have been running to form lately and Jim Crowley is on board who often gets these Shadwell Estate-owned horses in the right positions to strike the front.

Advancing 2/1

This seems to be a battle between the top two in the market.

You can make cases for some others but the potential for these two, Bulletin and Advancing, are much more promising.

Bulletin stepped up to 1m3f last time and finished third of 13 at Goodwood in a competitive Class 3 handicap.

He’s won on the all-weather, his only win in his career, at Southwell in April and has had a steady rise in 2025 with six runs since April.

Both have finished behind Dangerman before too – Bulletin was carrying 5lb more when he placed 3 lengths off of him at Sandown in July.

Advancing was then nearly 6 lengths behind him when carrying 2lb more, granted the winner had also been upped in the weights since that win ahead of Bulletin, putting them at very level playing fields.

The 2/1 Advancing is just that little bit more unexposed and Bulletin is tough to back after five runs without a win.

Mohawk Chief 1/1

Hard to side with Late Night Drama, despite her win here two starts ago but she can often run inconsistently – 66 lengths off the winner last time out and 101 lengths back in April.

Mohawk Chief carries 7lb more than Jentobello for that win two starts ago.

The latter is very unexposed having had his first run over hurdles at Uttoxeter last month.

He was favourite to win that though and ended up third of eight so could certainly improve.

Jentobello will have to improve a lot to keep up with Mohawk Chief today.
