Nets Preferred Lakers' Three 2nd Rounders Over Top-17 Protected 2025 Pick From Grizzlies
The Memphis Grizzlies tried to acquire Dorian Finney-Smith from the Brooklyn Nets, but they were only offering a top-17 protected first rounder in the 2025 draft. The Nets instead traded Finney-Smith to the Los Angeles Lakers for a package of three second rounders. Brooklyn also would have had to trade a second round pick or two to the Grizzlies and take on salary. The Nets had long held out for at least one first round pick for Finney-Smith and Dennis Schroder, but ultimately moved both players for a combined six second round picks. The Nets now own 16 second round picks over the next seven years.
