Napoli Getting Closer to Signing Fiorentina Prodigy

Napoli have continued chasing Pietro Comuzzo after their opening bid was rejected and significantly shrunk the gap with Fiorentina’s request Wednesday. The Partenopei need one final raise to convince the counterparty, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs.

The first offer amounted to €20M. The Azzurri proposed €10M more afterward through the formula of an 18-month loan with a €5M fee, a €20M obligation to buy, and €5M add-ons. The Viola want €5M more to match their demand. Still, the negotiation is at a good point.

Like in any deal, Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso can always intervene and stop the sale, but he hasn’t weighed in on Comuzzo yet, and the relationship with Napoli is excellent. The Partenopei made strides on his personal terms in a summit with his agent.

The parties discussed a contract until 2030 with an option and a €2.5M salary. Despite his age, he wouldn’t be far from their linchpins. He currently makes €500k.

It’d be a tremendous way to replace someone who has barely featured, Rafa Marin, and they’d be set in the back for years to come with him. The price is high considering he has just six months under his belt. However, the delayed formula wouldn’t hurt their firepower for a winger, which should be their top priority.

On the other side of the coin, it doesn’t make a lot of sense for Fiorentina to cash in now, as his valuation is bound to grow. They have had their fair share of big sales, often striking at the exact right time, but most were justified by short-term contracts. It’s not the case in this one.
