Napoli have reprised chasing after Jakub Kiwior, but it won’t be easy to convince Arsenal. The Partenopei are determined to add a reliable defender in January. On the other hand, the Gunners would rather keep him. Only a rich offer could make them change their mind, TuttoSport informs (via Mediaset).
There has been a fresh round of talks with the entourage of the defender, but his team’s position is clear. The Premier League powerhouse value the former Spezia man €25M. The Partenopei were mulling offering a lot less.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal consider Kiwior useful for his versatility and need him even though he’s not a full-time starter, so his departure toward Napoli and other sides is unlikely.
The Azzurri are in talks also with Danilo. He’s open to joining, but Juventus don’t want to let him go without a replacement in hand. Ardian Ismajli is on the radar of both Serie A giants. He’s appealing because, on top of his steady performances, he’ll be out of contract next summer. Empoli could opt to cash in a little in January rather than potentially lose him for nothing.
Our Take on Napoli and Kiwior
He’d be a good addition to any Serie A side, but it remains to be seen whether they’ll be willing to splurge again after spending big in the past window. It’d be a lateral move for him too, as he’d have to fight for his spot with them as well. It’s a need but not a major one for this season, so they can settle for a dependable veteran.
