AC Milan’s star forward Rafael Leao faces a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a thigh injury during the recent match against Verona. The Portuguese international’s game at the Bentegodi stadium lasted only 32 minutes before he was replaced by Theo Hernandez due to a muscular issue.
Medical examinations have revealed that Leao has suffered a strain in the flexor muscle of his left thigh. The club has announced that the number 10 will undergo another MRI scan in a week to assess his progress.
Despite manager Paulo Fonseca’s initial optimism post-match, Leao’s participation in Milan’s upcoming fixture against Roma at San Siro next Sunday is now virtually ruled out. More concerning for the Rossoneri is that Leao’s involvement in the first game of the Supercoppa Italiana against Juventus, scheduled for January 3, 2025, in Riyadh, is also in serious doubt.
This injury setback comes at a crucial time for Milan, as they look to maintain their competitive edge in both domestic and cup competitions.
