Manuel Garcia Quilon, the agent of Theo Hernandez, corroborated the chatter about the issues in the talks with Milan to renew his contract

Something ominous is seemingly going on behind the scenes as Theo Hernandez’s career at Milan has reached its lowest point. According to Calciomercato, the Italian giants could entertain offers for one of Europe’s most highly-rated left-backs in January.

Hernandez has established himself as one of the world’s best players in his position since swapping Real Madrid for Milan in 2019. As one of the club’s best and longest-serving stars, the 27-year-old has earned the role of vice-captain behind Davide Calabria.

With Calabria tumbling down the pecking order, the French superstar has captained Milan in 11 matches this season. However, his frosty relationship with new manager Paulo Fonseca has long been the subject of intense debate.

Rafael Leao and Hernandez have been the pillars of Rossoneri’s success in recent years. But both have performed in patches under the Portuguese tactician this season. Theo’s arguably worst performance for Milan came on Friday.

Atalanta got the better of Fonseca’s team 2-1 in Bergamo, probably denying Milan the last chance to reignite their Scudetto hopes. Hernandez was one of the worst on the field, and the club hierarchy could consider putting him up for sale in the upcoming transfer window.

Hernandez’s qualities have never been questionable. However, his strained relationship with Fonseca has contributed to his most torrid spell at Stadio San Siro. Despite the Frenchman’s decline, he remains one of the most sought-after left-backs in the market.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have emerged as potential suitors for the unsettled Milan star, with Manchester City recently joining the hunt.
