Mavericks Are Shopping Veteran Center At Trade Deadline

The Dallas Mavericks were one of the most exciting teams in the NBA last season and traveled all the way to the Finals.

They have had problems this year and are intent on solving them.

According to reporting from Christian Clark, via Evan Sidery, the Mavericks have “dangled” big man Daniel Gafford “in trade talks around the NBA to hopefully acquire an impact wing defender.”

So far this season, Gafford is averaging 11.7 points and 6.0 rebounds for Dallas, but will he be packing his bags and moving away soon?

This is Gafford’s first full season with the Mavericks, as he was traded to the team from the Washington Wizards in the middle of 2023-24.

He immediately injected a lot of power and expertise into their frontcourt and the trade for Gafford was part of the reason they turned last season around.

As great as he’s been, the Mavericks sound ready to move on and are more focused on finding a wing defender.

If the Mavericks do more than just dangle Gafford, they will likely hear a few offers from across the association.

Many teams in the league are hungry for big men like Gafford, especially if the price is right.

It seemed like Gafford was going to stay put with Dallas for a while, but it now looks like he could be on the move.

Will he be the only Mavs player traded this season?

That depends on how eager they are to get a wing defender.

If another team demands more than just Gafford, other Dallas players may be sent away.
