Marotta: “Inter have returned their rightful place in Europe”

Inter Milan President Beppe Marotta has shared his thoughts on the club’s renewed European competitiveness in a comprehensive interview with Sky, conducted as part of the documentary “L’anno dell’Inter” (Inter’s Year). Marotta emphasized the club’s return to prominence on the European stage and set clear ambitions for the future, including reaching the Champions League final.

Speaking about Inter’s resurgence in Europe, Marotta stated: “I must say that at the European level, Inter has returned to being one of the most authoritative protagonists. The history and achievements of this club tell us that many trophies have been won, so we have returned to the stage most befitting our history. At this moment, with the new ownership, we are giving continuity to this situation.”

Addressing the Champions League final aspirations and past experiences with both Inter and Juventus, Marotta expressed a bold philosophy: “Regarding lost finals in the Champions League with Inter and Juve? I believe we must always ensure the opportunity to be there, and then you either win or lose. We must pursue being there at the right moment; it’s not an act of arrogance, but of sporting ambition. In sports, you have to be ambitious, otherwise you don’t win. When some of my colleagues say ‘we need to finish in the top 4,’ I don’t really agree. You must have the audacity to have utopian goals, to believe in this.”
