Marcus Rashford set to MISS Man United's clash against Liverpool this weekend due to illness as his future hangs in the balance this month

Marcus Rashford is set to miss Manchester United’s clash with bitter rivals Liverpool through illness as uncertainty continues to hang over his future at Old Trafford.

Head coach Ruben Amorim revealed that Rashford hasn’t trained ahead of Sunday’s clash at Anfield and is unlikely to feature against Arne Slot’s league leaders.

Rashford only returned to the squad against Newcastle on Monday as an unused substitute after being dropped for four games, but Amorim insisted that his situation remains unchanged.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from his boyhood club in the January transfer window, although he has rejected three offers to move to the Saudi Pro League worth up to £35million-a-year.

Rashford has scored seven times against Liverpool in his career – more than any other Premier League club – but it’s unlikely he will get a chance to add to that tally this weekend.

‘It’s the same situation,’ said Amorim. ‘At the moment he is ill. He is not training.

Amorim revealed that Rashford has been unwell and has been absent from training this week

‘We will see in the future, but this is like a normal player, then I make a selection. So it’s the same. I think he is going to be out, this week he is out. We will see, but I think this week he is out.’
