Man Utd Make Way for Inter to Sign Napoli Stalwart on Bosman Deal Next Summer

Manchester United have left the race to sign Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret amid growing interest from Serie A champions Inter. According to recent reports from abroad, Ruben Amorim has ‘no intention’ of pursuing a Bosman deal for the Italian stopper, paving the way for the Nerazzurri to reinforce their squad with another low-cost acquisition.

Meret’s contract at Napoli runs out at the end of the season. Despite the club’s best effort to convince the 27-year-old to pledge his allegiance to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, extension talks have reached an impasse. In the meantime, top clubs are following the keeper’s contract wobble with great attention.

Antonio Conte holds the Napoli long-serving stalwart in high esteem. However, the parties cannot find common ground in dragged-out negotiations over a time-sensitive renewal. If Meret decides to depart, the Partenopei will likely turn to highly-rated 23-year-old Elia Caprile to fill the vacancy between the sticks.
