Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Manchester United will extend Harry Maguire’s contract just 19 months after the club stripped him of the captaincy.
Maguire’s deal is set to expire at the end of the season, following six years on the red side of Manchester.
However, despite starting at the back in all of United’s record-breaking three consecutive Premier League defeats, Amorim has heaped praise upon the former skipper.
‘Harry Maguire: [we are] going to trigger our option,’ began Amorim. ‘I spoke with him this morning and I told him that he has to improve his game on the pitch.
‘We need him a lot, he has to improve as a leader, we all know the sit he had here but we need him a lot so we are going to trigger happily the option for Harry.’
