Man City, Man Utd Take Lead in Transfer Race for Barcelona, PSG’s €70M-Rated Target

As 2025 approaches, Viktor Gyökeres is drawing interest from several top European clubs, with Sporting Lisbon reportedly willing to sell their star striker. However, one club seems to be ahead in the race for the Swedish forward.

According to L’Équipe’s Loïc Tanzi, Paris Saint-Germain are closely tracking Gyökeres and are planning a move for him in the summer of 2025. PSG’s sporting advisor, Luís Campos, is said to have already reached out to the player’s representatives.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are also in the running, with coach Rúben Amorim—who previously worked with Gyökeres at Sporting—pushing for a transfer. The Premier League side appears keen to secure the striker.

SPORT reported that Barcelona are planning to sign Gyökeres for around €70 million, with plans to loan him back to Sporting for another season.

Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Manchester United have held initial talks about a potential move for Gyökeres next summer, with the club now fully engaged in the pursuit.

However, any move will depend on sales first. Meanwhile, Manchester City have ramped up their interest in recent days, with club chief Hugo Viana leading the charge in their pursuit of the player.
