Calciomercato report that with Toronto’s season ending prematurely due to their failure to qualify for the MLS playoffs, Insigne has taken some time off to relax with his family in Dubai. However, his future remains uncertain. Recently, he met with his agents to discuss potential moves, with a focus on the upcoming January transfer window.
Despite having a contract with Toronto until June 2026, Insigne is contemplating an early departure from Canada. There is already interest from several clubs, with exploratory inquiries coming from Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The latter, in particular, is keen on attracting quality players to elevate the level of their league.
Insigne’s MLS journey began in January 2022, though he officially joined Toronto six months later. While he hasn’t won any trophies with the club, he came close to securing the national cup, losing 3-5 on penalties to Vancouver Whitecaps. His first goal for Toronto came shortly after that final, in a league victory against Nashville. Overall, Insigne has scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists in 63 appearances for Toronto.
Toronto’s recent season ended disappointingly, finishing 11th out of 15 teams in the Eastern Conference, just three points shy of a playoff spot. As the club looks ahead to the next season, Insigne is weighing his options, with a potential exit as early as January on the horizon.
