LeBron James is one of the few athletes in NBA history whose fame goes well beyond what he can do on a basketball court.

He is, of course, one of the best players in league history, leading several statistical categories, but he’s also a cultural and social icon.

People might not be big fans of the NBA, but they are fans of James for what he does in his local communities, his brand, and even potentially his short list of acting credits.

James is a similar persona to Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, who both found ways to transcend the sport.

Since moving to Los Angeles, James’ fame has only risen, as the Lakers have one of the most recognizable brands in the world.

Being in L.A. gives James access to many celebrities and high-profile athletes, which was put on display at a recent Lakers game.

As ESPN Los Angeles pointed out on X, James and Roki Sasaki met ahead of a Lakers game, a moment that has since gone viral.
