Lazio’s Baroni aims high: “Winning the Europa League is a dream….”

Lazio manager Marco Baroni  shared his ambitious vision for the club’s European campaign. Speaking with Corriere dello Sport,  he expressed his aspirations while also providing updates on key players.

“Winning the Europa League is a dream,” Baroni stated, highlighting the team’s European ambitions. He added, “We want to do well. We’re up against incredible teams, and we want to stay among them. We have important matches ahead, and the team believes in itself. Rather than focusing solely on the end goal, I try to look at the journey, and we’re on the right path. But now the most difficult moment will come, and we’ll have to face it with strength.”

Regarding the upcoming Serie A match against Bologna, Baroni addressed the situation of Dia, who had been sidelined by the Senegalese federation due to malaria. “Tomorrow we resume training, and I need to speak with the doctors. He’s done the tests and he’s fine. We plan to integrate him into the group immediately. He’s a strong player with mobility and a good interpretation of his role. If he’s available, he’ll play against Bologna,” Baroni explained.

The manager also commented on the performances of Rovella and Guendouzi in the recent Italy-France match: “They played a great game. Nicolò entered the game very fired up. I’m pleased to have contributed players who are ready, even though Guendo was on the other side. I’m happy with their contributions.”

Baroni expressed his satisfaction with Zaccagni’s form, stating, “He’s doing very well. I’m very happy. He’s a true winger, very good at beating his man. A player who, beyond wearing the captain’s armband, is embodying this role very well.”

On Pedro, Baroni was effusive in his praise: “There are no more adjectives left. His technical qualities are evident. I’m enjoying him internally for his human and professional qualities as well. He gives a great message to young players, seeing him train like a youngster, with passion and dedication. He’s a great professional, and he’s repaying our trust with great performances.”
