The New York Knicks have a 26-15 record and are considered by many to be championship contenders, but many also feel they need a little more depth to truly solidify their chances of winning it all this spring and summer.

While center Karl-Anthony Towns, whom they acquired in a trade weeks before the start of the regular season, may be having his best season yet, they haven’t had backup center Mitchell Robinson, who is still out after an ankle injury he suffered last season.

Jericho Sims has filled in for Robinson as their backup center, and per NBACentral, he is being shopped on the trade market.

Sims isn’t nearly as good or impactful a player as Robinson, but he has filled in adequately for a Knicks team that has huge aspirations for the first time in over 20 years.

After trading for 3-and-D wing OG Anunoby about a year ago, they took off in January, and that momentum carried them all the way to the brink of an Eastern Conference Finals appearance, which would’ve been their first since 2000.

They currently sit in third place in the Eastern Conference, and they have the third-best offensive rating in the NBA while they have been rediscovering their identity as a team that wins with defense and by pounding the boards.

Although New York plays at one of the slowest paces in the league and is just 15th in fast-break points per game, they can get out and run with almost any team, which adds a huge extra dimension to their attack.

Perhaps they just need one more minor or moderate piece to bring the Big Apple its first NBA championship since 1973.
