Kendrick Perkins has not been shy making his thoughts clear about the Golden State Warriors of late.
The ESPN analyst boldly compared Jimmy Butler to Nicki Minaj, implying the Warriors were expecting a superstar of the caliber of Taylor Swift or Beyoncé but ended up with a lesser talent instead.
Though he later apologized to Minaj, the point was made, suggesting he didn’t believe Butler was the game-changer Golden State needed.
His skepticism runs deep, particularly regarding the team’s playoff prospects.
Despite Butler’s impressive track record, including leading the Miami Heat to a surprising run as an eighth seed just two years ago, Perkins sees limited potential for Golden State.
“The ceiling for this Golden State Warriors team this season is first round,” Perkins said, via NBA on ESPN. “… I just don’t think they have enough pieces.”
