For years, many NBA analysts and experts have said that Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets is the best player in the league.
But Kendrick Perkins is pushing back against that this season.
Perkins recently said LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers is playing better than Jokic.
He made that claim because he said a player should be judged based on how they perform on both ends of the court.
“Are we sure that Nikola Jokic is the best player in the league? … I would have to say right now today that LeBron James is the best player in the NBA… LeBron James is getting it done at the age of 40 on both ends of the floor,” Perkins said, per ClutchPoints.

Perkins said that James can play—and guard—every position in the league.
Unlike Jokic, James can be anything, from guard to center.
In fact, Perkins feels that James has been the second-best center in the league since the departure of Anthony Davis for the Dallas Mavericks.
James certainly is versatile and gives his team 100 percent no matter what position he is playing and who he is blocking.
Plus, he is doing all of this at the age of 40, which makes it all the more impressive.
With that being said, Jokic is still second in the running for MVP, behind Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
A lot of people believe that Gilgeous-Alexander is currently the league’s best star.
The fact that James is still in the conversation at this age is astonishing.
No matter what people think of Perkins’ opinion, they have to agree that James is still a top-level NBA star.
