Juventus Shift Focus to Hancko as Araujo Deal Falls Through

Juventus have been forced to reconsider its defensive reinforcement strategy following Ronald Araujo’s decision to remain at Barcelona. The Uruguayan defender was convinced by sporting director Deco to stay with the Catalan club, prompting the Italian giants to explore alternative options.

According to Calciomercato, David Hancko has re-emerged as a prime target for Juventus. The 27-year-old Slovak international, formerly of Fiorentina, is currently under contract with Dutch club Feyenoord until June 2028. Feyenoord acquired Hancko from Sparta Prague in the summer of 2022 for €8.3 million. Primarily a centre-back, Hancko is also capable of playing as a left-back when needed. This season, he has made 26 appearances, contributing three goals and four assists while receiving two yellow cards.

Should the pursuit of Hancko not materialize, Juventus have alternative options in mind. Kevin Danso, the 26-year-old Austrian defender from Lens, and Fikayo Tomori, the 27-year-old English center-back from AC Milan, are also on the club’s radar.

The situation is further complicated by the potential departure of Brazilian defender Danilo, who is reportedly considering terminating his contract to join Napoli. This development could lead Juventus to acquire two central defenders in the current transfer window.
