Alex Len was thrown into the deep end on Wednesday night, playing his first game with the Los Angeles Lakers just days after being signed to the team.

He scored only four points, seven rebounds, and two assists during his 22 minutes on the floor and obviously has some adjusting to do.

Following the surprising loss to the Utah Jazz, Lakers head coach JJ Redick talked about Len with Jovan Buha.

He said the center played “fine” in his first game and had been put in a very tough spot because he was forced to play so soon after just joining the team.

The Lakers are in a tough spot themselves and hope that Len can help them out.

This wasn’t the way it was supposed to be for Los Angeles.

They traded for Mark Williams of the Charlotte Hornets last week, thinking he would fill the very big void left by Anthony Davis.

But when the Williams’ deal fell apart because of his medical issues, the Lakers were left without a reliable big man, and the trade deadline passed.

When they were able to secure Len, they knew he wouldn’t produce the same sort of output they expected from Williams, but he could help.

They didn’t give the big man much time to rest, and he got to work right away.

His first game wasn’t very memorable, but Len still has time to build a stronger bond with his new teammates and find his rhythm.

Redick will have to figure out how to use Len, Jaxson Hayes, and the limited frontcourt the Lakers have.

In the end, he will probably rely on a combination of all the big men in hopes of improving the team’s lacking defense.

Redick said that Len was “fine” in this first game, but is that good enough?
