When the season started, the Los Angeles Lakers were one of the best offensive teams in the league, while their defense struggled.
Now they are doing better with the defense but having problems with offense.
On Monday night, head coach JJ Redick talked about his team’s struggles and discussed the biggest offensive woes plaguing them.
According to a video shared by Lakers Nation, Redick said it’s “not one thing, it’s probably a few things” and then said, “We want to live in the paint. We want to shoot threes. We haven’t shot enough threes.”
Redick stressed the point that the Lakers need to “generate the right” three-pointers and can’t just be launching the ball without thought and planning.
Redick added:
“Make or miss, we’ve got to live with the results and we’ve got to do more than that.”
Redick said if his team is able to land more mid-range shots, their offensive rating would skyrocket.
That, combined with efficient three-point shooting, would turn this team into a completely different animal.
It’s troubling to know they need to improve their shooting from all over, but at least Redick knows what the problem is.
He pointed out key statistics that proved the Lakers would improve a lot if they can enhance their shot profile.
Now it’s a matter of making it happen, and that may be easier said than done.
The Lakers are 6-9 in their last 15 games and are hoping to become consistent in the weeks ahead before the upcoming trade deadline.
Redick has a plan, but can his team follow through with it?
