Jerry Jones admits he likes to feast on squirrels… and reveals which disgusting part is his favorite

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has lifted the lid on his rather interesting culinary choices.

Carolina Panthers wide receiver Xavier Legette raised eyebrows when he revealed he would be feasting on racoon for Thanksgiving rather that the traditional turkey.

However, it appears that racoon – and another unconventional meat – is a regular feature on household menus around the league. That’s according to Jones at least.

The NFL team owner not only admitted that he had tasted racoon before when asked about Legette’s Thanksgiving appetite, but also revealed that another rodent was his favorite.

‘I’ve eaten a lot of raccoon,’ Jones told radio show, 105.3 The FAN, via Jon Machota. ‘The answer is yes. … It’s not uncommon at all. One of my favorites is squirrel. It’s wonderful. We all had our favorite pieces. … My mom and I would even ask for the brain of the squirrel. Delicious. Seriously.’

Some Dallas fans may feel that Jones’s confession helps explain the Cowboys’ nuts season.

Sunday’s 30-14 win over Legette’s Panthers was a rare highlight amidst a woeful season for Dallas.

The Cowboys have slumped to a 6-8 record, sitting third in the NFC East, and while they escaped the weekend with their playoff chances still technically alive, they’re slim to say the least.

The misery down in the Lone Star state has piled the pressure on head coach Mike McCarthy and the team’s billionaire owner.

But Jones has unwaveringly stood by the coach throughout the season, and last month branded suggestions that McCarthy has lost the locker room ‘so overblown’.

He once again left the door open to McCarthy and defensive coordinator Mike Zimmerman returning on Tuesday.

‘I give them both high grades this year,’ Jones said during the radio appearance.
