Jamal Musiala set to have €175m release clause included in his new Bayern Munich contract

Bild reports that Jamal Musiala is set to have a €175m release clause inserted into his Bayern Munich contract as negotiations over an extension continue.

Bayern would like to reach an agreement soon, but it is likely that the 21-year-old will sign a five-year contract that will see him earn as much as Harry Kane, which is around €24-25m per year. He currently earns nine million a year. 

The issue when it came to negotiations was the inclusion of a release clause. Musiala wanted one in his new contract, while Bayern were hesitant, however, an agreement on the issue has been said to have been reached.

The release clause in Musiala’s contract will be initially worth €175m and will be active when his extension only has two years remaining. The clause will then drop when the 21-year-old only has one year left on his contract to €100m. Bayern are happy to live with this clause due to the size of it. 

Musiala is comfortable in Munich and wants to win the Champions League with the club so negotiations will likely be finalised soon. The Stuttgart-born dynamo’s extension would also have a knock-on effect with Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sané more likely to stay.
