This put Paul on 6-1, and was a serious setback.
However, he’s bounced back and has won his last four fights comprehensively.
Next up was UFC legend Nate Diaz.
The American elected not to extend his UFC contract in 2022, and he moved into boxing.
Paul stepped into the ring just three months after his defeat to Fury and won via unanimous decision.
In truth, it wasn’t close as the judges scored it 97-92, 98-91 and 98-91.
But The Problem Child wasn’t done there for 2023 as he faced a third different opponent of the year in Andre August.
August was an unknown professional boxer, but he was viciously knocked out by Paul in the first round.
The end came when Paul followed a left-handed jab with a brutal uppercut that floored his opponent.
Paul then took on Ryan Bourland in his first fight of 2024.
Again, his opponent proved to be no match as he recorded a first-round TKO.
Bourland offered little resistance as Paul laid into him for a full minute before the referee waved it off.
That set him up for the original meeting date with Tyson, however, the icon had to pull out due to medical concerns.
It meant Mike Perry stepped in for what was just his second professional boxing match.
And Perry proved no problem for Paul who knocked down his opponent three times on his way to a brutal KO win.
Paul then finally came up against Tyson at the 80,000-capacity AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas and live on Netflix.
It was a sad and hard watch for boxing fans with the legend a shadow of himself as the social media sensation won with ease.
The pair embraced with Tyson surviving the final bell, but Paul was crowned winner with scorecards at 80-72, 79-73 and 79-73 in his favour.
Fans booed in the arena and the reaction was overwhelming online.
But as much as it was sad for Tyson, Paul will label it as a superb achievement and his record is now 11-1.
From starting as an influencer boxer to beating one of the sport’s greatest – it has been a superb journey for him.
And now he’ll be eyeing his next opponent…
