Asia-Pacific markets mostly rose Tuesday after a mixed session on Wall Street that saw the Dow soar and the Nasdaq slip as investors rotated out of tech stocks. Japanese markets returned to trade after a long weekend, with the Nikkei 225 tumbling 716.1 points, or 1.8%, to 38,474.30. Japan’s 40-year government bond yield rose to an intraday high of 2.774, its highest on record since 2007 In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index restored 345.64 points, or 1.8%, to 19,218.78. In other markets China’s CSI 300 recovered 98.03 points, or 2.6%, to 3,820.54. In Singapore, the Straits Times index sagged 2.93 points, or 0.1%. to 3,788.77 In Korea, the Kospi index edged higher 7.84 points, or 0.3%, to 2,497.40. In Taiwan, the Taiex index hiked 309.19 points, or 1.4%, to 22,797.52 In New Zealand, the NZX 50 restocked 57.05 points, or 0.4%, to 12,884.38. In Australia, the ASX 200 climbed 39.08 points, or 0.5%, to 8,231.
