As the January transfer window approaches, Inter Milan’s strategy is crystal clear: moves will only be made in case of emergencies or exceptional opportunities. Otherwise, the club is content to proceed with the squad assembled for Simone Inzaghi last summer. However, there’s a slight uncertainty surrounding Francesco Acerbi, whose physical condition has been less than reliable, prompting thoughts of defensive reinforcements.
Calciomcercato report that despite this, Marotta and Ausilio seem inclined to wait for currently injured players to recover. They’ve even requested Inzaghi to give more playing time to Tomas Palacios, the 21-year-old Argentine defender who has seen limited action so far. Any significant reinforcements are likely to wait until June, when the club will have a clearer picture of their central defensive situation, particularly regarding Acerbi and de Vrij’s contracts.
Looking ahead, the attack is another area of focus, with Correa and Arnautovic expected to depart at season’s end. While no official moves are planned for January, Inter might begin unofficial approaches for a player of great interest: Santiago Castro. The 20-year-old Bologna striker, reminiscent of a young Lautaro Martinez, has been on Inter’s radar for months. While it would be a costly operation, it’s not impossible for Inter, especially considering Inzaghi’s philosophy: “Young players, yes, but they must be strong.”
