The Phoenix Suns have made it abundantly clear that they want to part ways with Jusuf Nurkic.
But that is easier said than done, and the Suns are having a tough time cutting ties with the big man.
According to Evan Sidery, the Suns will have a “difficult time trading Jusuf Nurkic.”
He wrote:
“Teams want to extract most of Phoenix’s draft assets to simply take on Nurkic’s contract, which becomes a $19.4 million expiring this summer.
Phoenix could end up being stuck with Nurkic riding their bench all season.”

It sounds like other NBA teams are only willing to take on Nurkic’s contract if they can get a lot more than just him.
And that is likely a proposition that isn’t very exciting for Phoenix.
They would love to move on from Nurkic, but they are not willing to give up more assets just to get rid of his contract.
Nurkic was recently demoted to the bench after a rough stretch of games and a number of defeats for the Suns.
But then he was completely pulled from the lineup, further confirmation that the Suns are ready to put this chapter behind them.
Despite their wishes, the Suns could be stuck with Nurkic unless another team softens on their demands.
This doesn’t mean Phoenix can’t make other moves, of course.
They are reportedly attempting to move Bradley Beal as well, although his no-trade clause is creating quite a headache.
The Suns wish to make changes before the trade deadline, but it seems like that will be a very difficult task.
They will have to get smart and aggressive, or they might have to be patient and just push through the rest of this season with the roster they have now.
