Kevin Durant recently returned from a 2-week absence due to a calf strain, but he went down once again on Tuesday night with a sprained ankle suffered during the team’s 104-93 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

Durant left the game after playing 16 minutes, and one notable insider recently provided an update on Durant’s ankle and how long he could be out of action.

ESPN’s Shams Charania said Durant will be re-evaluated in one week due to his left ankle sprain and could return shortly after that.

The Suns are 12-8 but are 11-2 when Durant plays and just 1-6 without him, so he is still the most important part of this team, even at 36 years old.

He is still one of the best players in the world, averaging 25.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game on 53.6/44.9/80.0 shooting splits.

Phoenix is about to embark on a three-game road trip to face the New Orleans Pelicans, Miami Heat, and Orlando Magic before returning home to face the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons.

That is not a tough stretch of games, and Phoenix should be able to improve upon its 1-6 Durant-less record during that timeframe.

Durant’s sprained ankle best-case scenario calls for a 1-2 week absence, and the team will need to rely on Devin Booker and Bradley Beal to hold things down in the meantime.

The Suns have looked much more cohesive this year with Mike Budenholzer as the head coach, and fans already can’t wait for Durant to return so the team can continue building upon its promising start.
