Heading into the 2024-25 NBA season, the New Orleans Pelicans were hoping they’d finally be able to get an entire campaign out of a healthy Zion Williamson and gauge what the team could do for the foreseeable future with him as the face of the franchise.
Unfortunately, Williamson playing only the first six games of the season turned out to be more of the same, as he was inconsistent on the floor and eventually went down with another injury.
As a result of the hamstring issue, Williamson has again missed a considerable amount of time. He hasn’t played since a loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Nov. 6, which obviously isn’t ideal for a team that desperately needs to get healthy in order to salvage its season.
But Williamson reportedly isn’t expected back on the floor anytime soon.
“He’s not close to coming back. … That hamstring, it’s been a chronic issue for him,” ESPN insider Shams Charania said on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

As of early December, the Pelicans are one of the worst teams in the Western Conference, sporting an ugly record of 4-18.
Injuries have ripped the team apart since the beginning of the season, with several star players like Dejounte Murray, CJ McCollum and Herbert Jones joining Williamson in street clothes on the sideline in New Orleans.
