Asked on Sky Sports what he did in the build up to his electric performance, Littler laughed: “I’ve been practicing!” He continued: “Obviously my major tournaments [record] isn’t the best record, so I just focused on tonight [to] make a statement. “I’m here to win.” He raced into a 3-0 lead with a 14-darter, 12-darter and then an 11-darter. Barry had no reply as Littler cleaned up with little trouble, ending the match with an average of 112.16. The Grand Slam of Darts starts with group matches that are best of nine legs. After three games, the top two in each group qualify for the knock-out stage.
