Gilardino’s farewell to Genoa: “Thank you to all the Genoese People”

Alberto Gilardino’s departure from Genoa has been marked by a display of grace and profound affection for the club he led for the past two years. Despite the understandable disappointment, Gilardino’s final words at the Pegli training center were a testament to his love for the team.

Ciao GenoA!
I would like to greet and thank those who believed in me, as Coach and, first of all, as a Man.

A greeting and a thank you to all the players who in these years have shared with me this long and exciting journey, to my two trusted allies, Tano and Dario, and to all my staff. I heartily thank all the people who work at Pio with dedication and passion, constantly for the good of the team.

Thank you to all the Genoese People, tireless soul and beating heart of the Griffin, thank you for making me feel part of something unique and extraordinary.
I will carry you in my heart, forever.
Gila

These words, laden with emotion and goodwill, have further endeared Gilardino to the Genoa fanbase, many of whom were already opposed to and upset by his dismissal. His parting statement reflects not only his professional integrity but also his genuine concern for the club’s future.
