Gary Neville said that it is ‘hard to believe how bad’ Manchester United are as he believes their £200million summer spend already looks ‘highly questionable’ just 15 games into the season.
United’s hierarchy backed Erik ten Hag with a hefty summer outlay over the summer, allowing him to bring in Manuel Ugarte, Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthjis de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
Results did not improve and Ten Hag was ultimately sacked and replaced by Ruben Amorim.
And speaking ahead of the Manchester derby against Pep Guardiola’s City team, Neville is growing increasingly unconvinced by the players brought in.
‘That transfer window, I thought it was quite a smooth transfer window for United as they got the players in quite quickly, and I was quite enthused,’ he told Sky Sports.
‘But when you actually look at the performances of the players who have come in the last few months it’s looking as bad a transfer window at the moment… it’s looking highly questionable we can say.
‘Those players have got a lot to do. There are things that are not going so well off the pitch, things that are taking time to bed in, but look, Manchester United are breaking every record in the wrong direction at this moment in time.’
