The Atlanta Hawks came to Madison Square Garden on Wednesday for the quarterfinal round of the Emirates NBA Cup and made a major statement by defeating the New York Knicks, 108-100, to advance to the semifinal round in Las Vegas.
Trae Young didn’t have a great game in that contest, but he scored 22 points and dished off 11 assists to key Atlanta’s attack.
Young has been a villain among Knicks fans dating back to a 2021 playoff series between the two teams, and on Wednesday, he pretended to roll dice while standing on the Knicks’ logo at center court.
Oklahoma City Thunder big man Isaiah Hartenstein, who played for New York last season, said he would’ve done something about Young’s disrespectful act.
“I wouldn’t have let him roll the dice on mid-court if I was there. For sure not. I would’ve done something. I’ll always love New York.”
