As a child, Tsunoda competed in karting events, where he once suffered a malfunction after using the toilet. The 24-year-old told The Red Flags Podcast: “As a racing driver, when you take a s*** you take the top part (of the racing suit) and you roll it down and put your suit around your knees. “I couldn’t do it properly, I didn’t do it perfectly well and I s***. “When I stood up from the toilet and when I tried to wear it, I could smell it from behind. ‘What’s going on? Something’s going on.’ “When I see the mirror, there’s s*** on it, a little bit and actually I didn’t roll it down and the s*** was just kissing through the edge of the suit. That was not a good moment.” The hosts were left in hysterics before Tsunoda revealed the incident occurred before a race. The season resumes on November 23 with the Las Vegas Grand Prix. An eighth placed finish or higher would see Tsunoda equal his best ever points tally for a season. He has already accumulated 28 points from 21 races in 2024 to leave himself 11th in the Drivers’ Championship standings.
