It’s time to break out their tissues again!

The beloved home renovation series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is officially making its return on Thursday, Jan. 2, and PEOPLE got an exclusive first look at some of the heartwarming scenes viewers can expect to see in the upcoming season.

This time around, the show will see The Home Edit’s Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin take on hosting duties as they transform the homes — and lives — of families facing hardships.

The exclusive clip above teases some signature moments including a crowd of people can be heard shouting the show's iconic line, “Move that bus!”, the new hosts donning hard hats while lifting the frame of a house they have "96 hours to build," according to Shearer.

And of course the emotions that come with every episode are front and center: Clips of deserving families with shocked and tearful expressions on their faces pan onto the screen as they see their new homes for the first time.

“This was more than just Extreme Home Makeover, this was extreme life makeover,” one homeowner says summing it up as the video comes to an end.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was first hosted by Ty Pennington during its original run on ABC from 2004 to 2012. In 2020, the series came back for a one-season reboot on HGTV with a new host, Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson.

After it was announced that The Home Edit founders would be taking on hosting duties for the series (which is returning to its original network on ABC), PEOPLE spoke to the two about how they were feeling ahead of joining the franchise

“We are just the most grateful. I don't even know how we got here, honestly,” Teplin said at the time, adding that it was an “opportunity of a lifetime” for them both.

Shearer echoed that it’s a “pinch-me kind of situation,” especially being able to connect with families who may have faced scary health situations following her own 2022 breast cancer diagnosis

“It's such an iconic franchise,” Teplin continued. “And then not only is it the one deserving family, but it brings the whole community together in such an unbelievable, just compassionate way.”

“I think we're going to be crying,” Shearer added. (She was right.)

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition premieres Thursday, Jan. 2 and will be streaming on Hulu.
