Ex-Manchester United chief Ed Woodward could be set to make a return to football three years after leaving Old Trafford. Woodward spent 17 years at Man United, leaving the club in 2022 – and he hasn’t taken a role in the sport since. The 53-year-old is now being lined up for a new job in football, which could see him work with another Premier League club. Sky News report that Woodward has been approached to join the board of Eagle Football Group. It has not been confirmed whether the appointment will go ahead, but there has been an approach made. The American company have five clubs around the world in their ownership portfolio, including a minority stake in Crystal Palace. Eagle Football Group also own French side Lyon, Copa Libertadores winners Botafogo, who are from Colombia, and Belgian side RWD Molenbeek. A football academy in the USA called FC Florida is also part of the group. The report also adds that Woodward is being lined up to become an independent director ahead of the company being listed on the Stock Exchange.
