Empoli Closing in on Shomurodov Deal

Empoli’s pursuit of Roma striker Eldor Shomurodov is gaining momentum as negotiations between the two clubs continue to progress. The Tuscan side, in search of attacking reinforcements, have identified the Uzbek forward as their primary target for the January transfer window.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, discussions between Empoli and Roma advanced further today, bringing the parties closer to an agreement for Shomurodov’s transfer. The 29-year-old striker has found playing time limited at Roma this season, making just 10 appearances in Serie A, during which he managed to score once and provide one assist.

Shomurodov also featured in Roma’s Coppa Italia campaign, netting a goal in his sole appearance during the round of 16 clash against Sampdoria. This limited involvement has prompted Roma to consider offloading the player, with Empoli emerging as the frontrunner for his signature.

The potential move to Empoli could provide Shomurodov with the opportunity for more regular first-team action, something that has eluded him at Roma.
