The 41-year-old is available after leaving Wolves in December, whilst Eustace departed Rovers earlier this month. His exit came after agreeing to take charge of strugglers Derby, where he has signed a deal through to the summer of 2028. Long-serving assistant manager David Lowe is currently in caretaker charge. Following wins over West Brom and Plymouth, Rovers were beaten 3-0 at Swansea on Saturday. A top six finish and qualification for the play-offs would mark Rovers’ best season since relegation from the Premier League in 2012. Ismael’s first match in charge could come this weekend, with the club hosting Norwich on Saturday afternoon.
