SPORT reported in October that Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are all interested in Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
While de Jong remains committed to Barcelona, PSG’s history of signing players from the Catalan club keeps them in the mix as a potential destination for next summer.
PSG has strengthened their midfield in recent years with the additions of Vitinha, Fabián Ruiz, and João Neves. Additionally, journalist Ferran Correas recently claimed that Barcelona might be open to selling de Jong next summer.
A Bundesliga side emerges as a candidate for Frenkie de Jong
Fichajes reported on Wednesday that Borussia Dortmund have emerged as an unexpected destination for the Dutch midfielder. The report notes that Dortmund are open to signing players who can elevate their squad and help them compete in the Bundesliga and Champions League.
The same outlet recently reported that Liverpool are considering Frenkie de Jong as a potential replacement. With Barcelona facing financial difficulties and de Jong’s high wages of around £300,000 per week, the Catalan club might be willing to sell if a suitable offer comes along.
De Jong’s contract with Barcelona runs until 2026. While he hasn’t signed an extension yet, the club might consider selling him in the future. The report doesn’t mention a specific asking price, but Transfermarkt values him at €60 million.
