Damian Lillard on playing in the Euroleague: 'You never know'

The Milwaukee Bucks superstar was asked about possibly joining Barcelona after his time in the NBA. “It’s something I’ve talked about with some members of my family the past two years but not seriously thought about,” Lillard admitted when talking to Toni Canyameras from Mundo Deportivo. “What if I went and played on a Euroleague team just because of the experience at the end of my career?” “But it’s something I haven’t seriously thought about. But you never know,” Lillard added.Source: BasketNews What’s the buzz on Twitter? More on this storyline

The Bucks have not been fully healthy in their eight matchups against the East’s top three teams. Regardless, no matter what qualifiers are used, they still are winless in those games. “(Zero) and 8,” Lillard said. “But if you watch the games … against the Knicks two times, they just outplayed us both times. I think a couple of times against Boston, we had games we should have won. We definitely should be at least 2-1 against Cleveland, but I mean, 0-8 is 0-8. “I think for us, we’ve just got to understand how a lot of these games have gone. Against New York, we’ve struggled. Against Cleveland, I feel like we’ve played really well. … Against Boston, we’ve been in all of those games. A possession here, a possession there, we could have won all of those games. I think it’s a long season, it’s a journey. When we look at our matchups with those teams, we’ve just gotta understand what it was.” -via New York Times / January 13, 2025
Herro and Jovic – two players that Portland general manager Joe Cronin declined to pursue during summer of 2023 discussions about a Damian Lillard trade – probably gave him indigestion Saturday. Both followed excellent first halves by hitting two threes apiece in the third to blunt Portland’s run. Jovic was at his best, pounding the boards, pushing the ball in transition and hitting four threes in seven attempts. His first half was some of his best work of the season – featuring 12 points, six rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block in 16 minutes. The Jovic contributions continued in the third quarter, including the two threes and a nifty alley-oop to Kel El’Ware. “I like his improvement,” Spoelstra said. “He’s playing with more consistency. He’s preparing with more consistency.” -via Miami Herald / January 12, 2025
With a three-point lead and a little more than two minutes remaining, Damian Lillard brought the ball up after the Bucks forced a turnover on a shot-clock violation. The Bucks didn’t worry about disguising what they were about to do on offense. While Lillard took the ball to the right side with Giannis Antetokounmpo there, the Bucks’ other three players stood on the left. There was little doubt about what was coming and there wasn’t much the Magic could do to stop it. “It’s simple,” Brook Lopez (eight points, three blocks) said. “We understand the power of that two-man pick-and-roll.” -via New York Times / January 11, 2025
