Conor McGregor deletes incredibly controversial tweet during Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson fight
Conor McGregor has come under fire for an incredibly insensitive now-deleted tweet. Paul defeated Tyson via unanimous decision in a very low-output fight. Paul beat Tyson over the distance in a sad fightGetty Besides a good opening round that saw Tyson land a couple of nice left hooks, ‘Iron Mike’ looked like a shadow of his former self in the ring. It was to be expected, given that he recently celebrated his 58th birthday while his opponent is in his athletic prime at 27, but it was a sad sight to see nevertheless. Dual-weight UFC champion, McGregor, was among the millions of people who stayed up until the early hours of Saturday morning to watch the fight on Netflix. And somehow, he produced something even more controversial than the fight itself, in the way of a tasteless tweet. “They are eyeing Prichard Colon for next opponent,” wrote McGregor before quickly deleting his post. Prichard Colon is a former super-welterweight boxer, who was left in a vegetative state after suffering a life-altering brain bleed in his fight with Terrel Williams in 2015. Williams repeatedly hit Colon with illegal punches to the back of the head throughout their fight before the bout was waved off in the ninth round. Colon had to be assisted to his dressing room where he subsequently collapsed. He was then taken to the hospital via ambulance and went into a coma for 221 days after undergoing emergency brain surgery. Colon has remained in a persistent vegetative state ever since and is unable to talk due to his injuries.
