That’s very good news for the league.
The even better news is that these two teams will meet again soon, on Jan. 16.
That game will be broadcast on TNT and is sure to also get a lot of viewers, but will it have the same results?
If the Cavaliers can defeat the Thunder again, that will send a huge message that they really are the team to beat this season.
They have already defeated plenty of Eastern Conference teams, but if they can take down the Thunder twice, they will be the odds-on favorites to claim the 2025 title.
If the Thunder respond and get revenge on the Cavaliers, they will make a point that they could win a best-of-7 series in the NBA Finals.
Once again, this game is going to mean a lot.
It’ll mean a lot for the league too, especially as it tries to increase viewership and find new heroes in a post-LeBron James, post-Stephen Curry era.
These ratings are great news for everyone involved, and the NBA is hoping for even more robust viewership numbers going forward.
