Antonio Cassano, the former Italian national team striker and ex-player for clubs like Inter, Milan, and Roma, shared his views on Juventus and its players during a recent appearance on the online show “Viva el Fútbol.” His comments come after the team’s struggles under head coach Thiago Motta, particularly following their defeat to Milan in the Supercoppa and a disappointing series of draws in Serie A.
“I am the first to say that Motta is doing poorly; we need to understand what we want,” Cassano stated. He acknowledged that despite some impressive moments in recent matches, such as a beautiful display that could have seen Juventus lead 4-0 at halftime, the team’s best player, Teun Koopmeiners, has been unrecognizable and underperforming.
Koopmeiners has had a challenging season, with 21 appearances resulting in just 2 goals and 3 assists. Cassano emphasized that the midfielder’s struggles are significant to the team’s overall performance.
Turning his attention to Dusan Vlahovic, Cassano did not hold back. “He is poor, unplayable; he cannot play for a big club. He is hysterical and gives the ball away to opponents. I would never let him play,” he remarked. Vlahovic has made 23 appearances this season, scoring 12 goals and providing 2 assists, but Cassano’s criticism highlights concerns about the striker’s consistency and composure on the field.
