Blake Griffin spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Los Angeles Clippers, where he earned multiple All-Star appearances, Rookie of the Year and more accolades.
But then he was traded to the Detroit Pistons, a team that had less of a chance of making the playoffs and didn’t carry the same star power as the Clippers.
However, Griffin recently said this was a highlight of his career.
Speaking to “7PM In Brooklyn,” Griffin talked about playing for the Pistons.
“It was a very defining moment for me and my career. To be away from that and show people I’m playing 75 games, as much as I possibly can. I’m playing as hard as I can. I’m trying to take that team to the playoffs. It was a proud moment for me,” Griffin said, via Joey Linn of Sports Illustrated.

Griffin touched upon all the players he got to work with in Los Angeles and how any of them could put up 30 points a night.
But when he came to Detroit, there was a lot more on Griffin’s shoulders, and he was comfortable with that.
He was ready to take on a bigger responsibility and be more of a leader and feels his seasons in Los Angeles prepared him for that.
During his four years in Detroit, Griffin averaged 20.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game.
But the team did have a lot less success than what he experienced with the Clippers, and his career was beginning to wind down at that point.
Following his time in Detroit, he moved to the Brooklyn Nets and finally the Boston Celtics before retiring after the 2022-23 season.
Some players may have been disappointed to go to the Pistons, but Griffin obviously felt very positive about his time with that team.
